Problems installing: Teechart Pro 2014 in Delphi XE4

Post by Matias Nabarro » Tue Apr 08, 2014 3:59 am

Hello. I recently acquired a licence for the 2014 Pro version. I can't get it to work with my system. Versions are as follows:

Windows 7 SP1 x64.
TeeChart Pro 2014 VCL for RAD Studio XE4
Delphi XE4 Professional - fresh new install - Ver: 18.0.4905.60485

During install of RAD Studio, I chose not to install Teechart Standard.
I followed other people's instructions regarding putting Teechart library paths on top of the list and also, deleting all trace of previous installations.

Finished the two fresh installs I get these errors. The same I got when I tried to test the trial version.

Hope you can help me. I need to start working ASAP.

Hello Matias,

Try running TeeInstall.exe utility twice. Here some extra details:
- TeeInstall.exe should be found in the TeeChart installation folder, by default at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steema Software\TeeChart 2014 for XXX".
- Make sure you always run TeeInstall.exe "as administrator".
- The first time you run TeeInstall after installing TeeChart, this utility should find the component installed and it should ask if you want to uninstall it. Do it.
- After it, I'd suggest you to open the IDE and check the packages list to check this utility has done the work correctly. If you find any TeeChart package still present in the list, please uninstall it using the "Remove" button in the same list.
- The second time you run TeeInstall, it should not find the component installed so it should ask if you want to install it. Do it.
- After it, I'd suggest you to open the IDE (with no project opened) and check the packages list and the paths.

If you still find problems with it, don't hesitate to let us know.

I've created a Windows 7 x64 virtual machine. I'll install Delphi XE4 and TeeChart Pro 2014 VCL for RAD Studio XE4 and let you know if I can reproduce the error asap.

Hi again Matias,

Sorry for the delay here. Doing all this needs a lot of time.
Here what I have installed:
- OS: en_windows_7_ultimate_n_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677543.iso
- OS updates: Installed all the recommended updates through Windows Update.
- IDE: delphicbuilder_xe4_upd1_win.iso (delphi personality only, TeeChart unselected)
- IDE patch: delphicbuilder_xe4_upd1_patch.exe
- TeeChart: TeeChart2014RADXE4.exe (build 2014.10.140220)

At this point, I've opened the IDE and found that the component wasn't present in the list of packages.
Then, I've closed the IDE and ran TeeInstall.exe from the installation folder to install the component to the IDE.
Now, I can open the IDE, create a new Delphi VCL project, drop a TChart component into the form, build and run that project without any error.

Do you have access to another machine to try TeeChart v2014.10 in Delphi XE4?

Hi Yeray. The only difference of your setup to my sistem is that OS is spanish.

I uninstalled Delphi, deleting all settings from registry.
Uninstalled Teechart.
Reinstalled Delphi
Reinstalled Teechart
At this point, all components loads correctly, with the exception of FMXxxxx.bpl, wich I don't need in this project.

There is something weird with the installer. I don't know.

Best regards,
Matias.

I understand latest versions of Windows use language packs to change between languages but they are still the same OS.

It sounds quite strange. You aren't installing any other 3rd party tool in the IDE, are you?
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you found a way to make it work.
